For quite some time, I have had the short term goal to eat more fresh produce on a daily basis. One of my long term goals is to then follow the natural growing season of the local produce market…it’s all a part of a larger interest in better health and responsible food sources. Of course, one step at a time, right? And who could resist such appetizing edibles?
By the by, tomato sandwiches just happen to be my most favorite summer meal.
Growing up, our family lived walking minutes away from “The Produce Place” that not only sold local produce but local plants and goods, as well. A true neighborhood marketplace! That was such an awesome privilege that I have just recently come to realize and now miss.
For my Texas readers, where do you go to find your local fruits and veggies…farmers’ markets, produce stands, neighborhood groceries?

Heirloom tomatoes are all over the market here in August…love them!
Local produce has such a short season for us in Ontario Canada. Makes me want to build a greenhouse and have it heated etc.
Great Blog!

Thank you for visiting, Nadine! Heirloom tomatoes…well, just about any fresh/in season tomatoes are delicious! Thinking about growing a small plant of my own. I have my collection of mint and herb plants, but it’s about time to add some tomato growth.
Come back soon!
