…they’re a good time to look back and reflect, a pleasant surprise at the end of a long day or week, and a welcome reminder that you’ve almost reached the end.
One of my favorite things to do at home is to take a minute in the mid-afternoon to sit in our kitchen and enjoy the afternoon sun. Our kitchen is located at the Northwest corner of our house so the sun is at it’s height between 3:00 and 4:00pm. It is so thoroughly relaxing to sit for a brief moment and enjoy the soft, warm rays while sipping on some fresh fruit tea or cucumber water.
Some might consider them ugly (in truth, they’re not the most attractive thing) but I love the pattern our mini blinds cast on the floor and furniture… it completely changes the feel of the room (and distracts me from the VCT on our floors)!
If this practice isn’t a regular part of your day, I suggest that you at least occasionally take a moment for yourself for personal reflection. If it’s not in the afternoon sun, no worries… evening moon beams can be just as entrancing!

OK – You’ve piqued my interest. What in the world is cucumber water?

Just fresh cucumbers sliced and tossed in a pitcher of water. It is a nice alternative to lemon slices and is very cool and refreshing!

I love that time and feeling of that time of day. You captured it beautifully in your photographs.
