Besides mixing colors, I love playing with pattern. When high temperatures are a factor, I tend to lean towards loose fitting garments and drape-y silhouettes. But that look can quickly get boring, which is why I like the idea of mixing interesting patterns in the place of more fitted and flattering shapes to spice things up. Whether it’s high impact mixing or softer, subtler pattern play, I’ve found that the right balance of scale and proportion can give an outfit a good dose of nonchalance and charm!

I’m always on the lookout for another pair of leopard print shoes too (or as David likes to call them, my “old lady” shoes), so when I came across this wild pair from ShoeMint’s June collection, I had a hard time saying no! As it turns out, the Carol heel adds just the touch of edge that my typically sweet ensembles need and plays nicely into today’s idea of pattern mixing.

As always, if you haven’t yet become a member of ShoeMint, do so today and receive 20% OFF your first pair of shoes by using THIS link. (first time buyers only)

*Pssst… ShoeMint’s July collection boasts even MORE leopard print!
