This weekend David and I had the incredible honor of participating in the opening of a new sanctuary building at our home parish, St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church. It was the culmination of many years of planning and saving and many months of even more working and sweating. To see the final reward of such a strong group effort was truly inspiring. And as if the strengthened community bond wasn’t enough, the building itself is truly stunning!! (If you live in the DFW area, please feel free to visit on Saturday evening at 6:00 or Sunday morning at 8:30 and 9:30 for a look at the church interior.) The structure was designed and built in a traditional Byzantine style and is a unique sight to behold in the heart of Texas!
Today’s Color Study post is a brief glimpse at a few elements from the new building… deep Mahogany wood doors, regal stone white columns, and glowing amber stained glass windows – serene, enduring, and welcoming colors.
