I mentioned the mysterious reproductive nature of my flower vases in yesterday’s post. Yes, they (plus other mischievous household items) have a curious way of multiplying without my notice. My amateur florist-self believes everyone of these beauties (and there are many more) to be completely necessary – each one serving a unique and irreplaceable role. As you can see from the photo above, though, I’m running out of space! So, I’ve just this very day (re) instated a “one in, one out” household policy. I won’t deny that bigger and better things are out there. Oh, are they ever out there! But, if they want to live in this house, they’re going to be sitting in someone else’s recently vacated seat!
It’s a ruthless world out there… in this game of clutter cat-and-mouse, it’s manage or be managed. I plan to manage. You?

I just can’t do it. The one in-one out doesn’t work for me in regards to flower vases. I need every choice. One solution is to take flower arrangements to my mom or friends at the church with the stipulation that the vase will be put back in service. I admit, I do have a stock of vases at mom’s, the church and at home. This posted by an avid flower arranger!

I know… it’s hard. But gifting vases isn’t a bad solution either! At least you have a sort of ebb and flow system going!

Oh, I get the flower vase thing. I’m an avid organizer and after moving 7 times one year instigated all kinds of decluttering policies but when it comes to my vases…no way! So, since redecorating the house this year, I have pulled them out of the bulging cabinet and distributed them throughout in little clusters of color or texture. When I need one for flowers, I either pick one out of the cluster or put the flowers in with it.
We went from clutter to cluster and didn’t lose a vase at all!

That’s brilliant, Cy!! Love the idea. Sounds like it’s a really beautiful solution too.
