The saying “when it rains, it pours” has never felt truer than it did this morning.
After a frustrating lock-out incident at the beginning of the week followed by a necessary tune-up on Tuesday, a malfunctioning car battery early this morning, and now a blown-out tire shortly after that, I’m feeling a little worn down by automobile difficulties. (and that’s even before mentioning our recent transmission rebuild!) The car gods are not pleased with us, apparently.
Yesterday, I photographed this pair of red ballet flats that I’ve worn tirelessly for the past year and a half with the clever idea to talk about the irony that years after retiring from my ballet “career”, I still find myself wearing these dance-like slippers everyday… cute, right? (i’m saying with a smirk) Then, perhaps I would have discussed the great value of a classic pair of flats in every woman’s wardrobe and taken you through my search for a new replacement pair. Sigh… What a fun post that would have been. But now, staring at my ill-shaped, rough-toed, and discolored slippers, all I can think about is how much I identify with them at the moment.
Worn out… yes, indeed. I guess it was bound to happen. Today, I’d gladly hide-away in the back of a closet… Let another pair of shoes do the work for a while!
Okay, well just for the fun of it, maybe I’ll share a few of the new flats for Fall that I’ve been eyeing after all. We can’t be all doom and gloom, now can we?
