Congratulations, Nina!! You are the winner of this giveaway!
This giveaway is now closed.
The close of one year and the fast approach of another puts me in a very “what am I going to do next?” kind of mood. Dreams and schemes float recklessly through my head. But it’s really more than just “what’s next?”. It’s more about where am I going… what will I change to put me closer to where I dream of eventually being… what’s my path? Those aren’t easy questions to answer!! You may have picked up on my foreshadowing commentary earlier in the week.
Well, it’s true. I have lots of ideas! They may not come to fruition for many months (or years) down the road but they’re marinating here, in my mind, just waiting for the right opportunity.
Visions, goals, and a true-to-you path. These are things every person should have in their life!
Another seasonal persuasion worth mentioning is that of giving. When we have so much, why not share? And so, today’s post combines the two – finding a path and giving back.
Sseko Designs is a Fair Trade clothing company focused on helping some of the brightest, most committed young women in Uganda continue their education by hiring them during a nine month transition period between their secondary and university education. In Uganda this is typical. A student will take nine months between schools to work and earn money for their university tuition. But that isn’t always the easiest thing to come by when you’re a female living in an impoverished, male-dominated society. And so, that’s why I’m sharing Sseko’s story today. Give back and help one of these young women in search of her true path to earn the fair wages she needs to fund her education and fulfill her dreams!
This Espresso Fringe Clutch, which is available on Sseko’s online shop, is just one example of the beautiful handiwork of these Ugandan women.
It’s a lovely piece to style for both day and night. In this look, I paired it with one of my all-time favorite mustard twill jackets and jewel-toned accessories.
To enter for a chance to win your own Sseko clutch, simply fulfill the following:
- Visit Sseko’s online shop & find your favorite clutch
- Meet the women of Sseko
- “Like” Sseko on Facebook
- Share your path for the new year in the comment section of this post
Find your path, invest in a clutch, give a path.

My path is very different from most people. It is not money oriented. I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and I recently became a full time pioneer. We spend 70 hours a month in volunteer community service. While we preach from door to door following Jesus Christ commandment to “therefore and preach this good news of the kingdom (Matt. 28:19,20), we meet people from all walks of life and ages. We may spend time reading to the elderly in a nursing home, or helping a parent with their teenager with books written to help, or we may listen to a depressed soul, or help a single mother with many babies. We do not hand out fish, we teach to fish. Very much like the Women of Sseko.

Love this topic! I’m starting to dream again too! Yay! I have found a great vehicle for accomplishing my dreams (it’s my secret for now….) and with faith and determination, frequent re-focusing, and prayer, I will soon be accomplishing the joyful goal of more quality time with my children: teaching, learning, planting, crafting, traveling, reading, playing, laughing, serving, baking, trying, swimming, swinging, building, sailing, racing….you name it.
I love the Arrow clutch in espresso: stylish, sophisticated, different.

What an awesome opportunity to explore ourselves and invest in an amazing experience. I’m just finishing up my graduate education and will soon be out into the real world. While many take this time to discover what they want to do with their careers (and begin to pay back student loans) – I think I’ve taken enough time to do that. And now I’ll be putting those skills to work. I’ve spent 24 years on my education, and I’m excited to finally give back. Much like this amazing cause, I want to be able to help people. Growing up in a poor Appalachian area, I know the struggles associated with trying to attend college with little to zero money. But I know it’s possible, and I hope to help guide others with their career choices. I could go on about this forever – but I won’t bore you. But thank you for the chance, and thank you for getting some publicity to this cause. I hope to be able to contribute soon (after that first loan bill, at least) =]

My path for the new year is one of FOCUS. Instead of texting my friends hello, I am going to make a point to see them in person more often. I plan on putting my phone away at dinner and focusing on the present conversation. I want to go back to experiencing a balanced life-one that embraces the awesomeness of technology with the simplicity of just being with those around us. And I plan on keeping up the art of the old school thank you card.
I love the Fringe clutch in Espresso…what a beautiful work of art for a wonderfully “focused” cause. Love!
